That Time I… Went to Iceland

Yep, I went to Iceland. In February. Was I crazy? Probably. Was it the right thing to do? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Not one bit.

It all started when I sent my boyfriend an article advertising crazy cheap prices for round trip flights to Iceland through WOW Air. Turns out Iceland was a place he was totally down to visit. And so my obscene amount of researching began. Shameless plug: if you ever need help planning/researching a trip, feel free to contact me. Seriously, I love this stuff.

Iceland turned into my first experience of planning an entire international trip on my own. When I went to Greece, and to the Caribbean, I just had to hand someone my money and remember to show up. That wasn’t the case this time. I took it upon myself to design the most action-packed week in the “land of fire and ice” that I possibly could, trying to take into account the fact that it was the middle of winter and some things just wouldn’t be possible.

The capital city of Reykjavik served as our home for the week and was the starting point for the day tours we went on. It would be impossible for me to talk about my trip to Iceland without giving props to possibly the best Iceland blog that I found- I Heart Reykjavik. Seriously. If you’re planning a trip to Iceland, Auður’s blog should be your first stop. I would also recommend booking her walking tour- it’s a great introduction to the city and helps familiarize yourself with the lay of the land.

Iceland is an amazing country and I couldn’t be happier that I had the opportunity to explore it for the first time with my amazing boyfriend… who’s now my fiance! Yep, he popped the question while we were in Iceland!

Here’s to many more adventures with my best friend by my side!
