That Time I… Got Engaged!

Woohooooooooo! I’m getting married!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my boyfriend proposed on our vacation in Iceland! On Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

We originally had a glacier tour scheduled on Wednesday that would have allowed us to actually go inside a glacier. Unfortunately, Iceland had other plans. Hurricane-strength winds (really, that was the phrase the company used in the cancellation email) forced them to cancel the day before. Since I had us on a packed schedule, we weren’t able to reschedule the tour for another day.

The cancellation made it possible for us to spend the day exploring downtown Reykjavik. On our first day in Iceland, we went on a walking tour that left from Hallgrímskirkja Church but we hadn’t actually gone inside. We decided to head there first and then see where else the day would take us.

The relatively short walk to get there felt like an eternity due to the aforementioned hurricane-strength winds and the heavy downpour that accompanied them. By the time we got to the church, we were soaking wet, freezing, and laughing at the craziness of it all.

Once inside, we got our tickets to the top of the tower. From there we would be able to see out over all of Reykjavik. At least in theory. At the top we discovered the windows were open to the outside- meaning all of that wind and rain was in our faces again.

It was there that Ben proposed. I may not have professional-quality pictures of that wonderful life-changing moment, but I don’t care. It was hands-down the best day of my life so far.

Later this year, I’ll be saying yes to spending the rest of my life with my best friend. And I couldn’t be happier.

~xo~
