Pretty in Pieces

I finally did it! I learned how to surf! And it was… well it was really, really hard. And I loved every minute of it.

In doing research for my family’s Caribbean cruise I discovered Barbados is a top surfing destination. We signed up for lessons with Barry’s Surf School. They were reasonably priced ($75/person) and included a 2 hour lesson, rash guard, and surfboard to use the rest of the day if we still had the energy. On top of that, they were also friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. In our morning session there were two other families with a total of 9 surfers in training with 3 instructors out in the waves with us. There were even 2 kids (ages 5 and 6) learning how. I ended up being able to stand (mostly) on my very first try!

Seriously, if you’ve ever considered learning how to surf- do it! You won’t regret it. Your arms will just kill you for a couple days after.
